HTC One Mini 2 Is The Ultimate Selfie Camera Phone

Updated on

The new HTC One Mini 2 may be the next big smartphone for the selfie generation. This  new phone, which is a smaller version of the HTC One, takes after the M8.

The new phone’s features

The new phone launched on Thursday. It features Android 4.4 operating system, Qualcomm S400 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of integrated storage, a microSD card slot, and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. Another standout feature for this particular device is the “Auto Touch Up Software”. It is this particular feature that helps create better selfies. HTC Corp (TPE:2498)’s “selfie beautifying” software is nothing new. Finnish tech giant Nokia launched an airbrushing digital lens in early 2013. The real highlights for the HTC One Mini 2 start with the improved 5-megapixel camera with 1080p video capabilities. This phone was designed to compete directly with other Android-based smartphones. Given the fact the HTC One Mini 2 is all about the camera and is an ideal selfie phone, it is possible HTC Corp (TPE:2498) could have a winner on its hands.

What this device doesn’t feature

What the HTC One Mini 2 no longer includes is features such as Panorama 360, Zoe and dual capture. It is evident the ISP on the MSM8926 does not have the processing power to support dual encode capabilities. Pan 360 requires much more power than the HTC One Mini offers. Overall this phone looks like a merged version of the One 2013 and M8. One can note similar features such as the single LED flash on the left side of the camera, top-mounted 3.5 mm jack and power button at the top left. The selfie trend is big right now and it is important to capitalize on the trend while it remains hot. HTC Corp (TPE:2498) is a key Android brand, and it’s necessary for the smartphone maker to find ways to stand out in a sea of similar Android smartphones. It looks like this new phone has a good chance to meet or exceed HTC’s expectations.
