Google Wallet Is Soon Coming To Google Glass [REPORT]

Updated on

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) will apparently launch its Wallet services on its wearable Glass, according to a report from TechCrunch. Citing sources familiar with the development, the report says the company is already in the testing phase and will launch it for the masses in the near future.

A few gestures and swipes will do

Google Wallet on Glass will be similar in display as on other devices, and users will be able to pay for products just by saying “send money,” coupled with some gestures and swipes. The report also stated that Google will charge a fee of 2.9% or 30 cents, whichever is higher, on the transaction.

Before commanding Google Glass to “send money,” the user might have to add “OK Glass,” thereby deciding on the amount to be paid, and a other few clicks to finally send the money. With the launch of Google Wallet on Glass, the company wants to ensure that users have an option for payment after they buy Google Glass and start using it.

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) has not yet decided or announced the date on which the service will be available for pioneers and explorers.

Google Glass features

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Wallet has gone various changes and updates over the past couple of years. Only last May, Google launched a feature allowing users to make a payment from Gmail, and in September, the company revamped the Wallet app. In March, another Wallet feature was added, allowing users to track their online purchases.

Google made Glass available to the masses last month, and the sale was on for just one day, during which the company was able to sell all the devices available. As of now, there is no set date of permanent availability for Google Glass.

Other features that Google Glass is apparently sporting are Glass menu, where users can see all the options available ranging from clicking pictures to sharing with other and so on. Also, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Glass is capable of sending reminder about an upcoming event, meeting or appointment. Similar to Android, Google Glass updates users about the weather. Google Glass may be equipped with maps, which would be displayed on the full screen and navigation feature gives turn by turn direction.
