Updated on

FOX Business Network (FBN) has hired Wall Street Journal’s chief economics correspondent Jon Hilsenrath as a contributor, announced Kevin Magee, executive vice president of the network. Hilsenrath will appear across various programs on both FBN and FOX News Channel (FNC).

In making the announcement, Magee said, “Jon’s impressive background and expertise in global economics will make a great addition to FBN’s all-star business lineup, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.”

Currently, Hilsenrath covers the Federal Reserve along with the United States and global economies for the Wall Street Journal, and has been with the publication since 1997. He previously served as the Markets Editor, overseeing the global stock, bond and currency markets. Prior to his time at the Journal, he served as a freelance reporter for the New York Times and Time Magazine and as a finance reporter for Knight-Ridder Financial News.

In 2009, Hilsenrath, along with a team of journalists, won an award for distinguished business reporting from the New York Newspaper Publishers Association for their article “Lehman’s Demise: The Shock Heard Round The World.” He also received the Best of Knight-Bagehot Award for excellence in economics writing in 2003 for a package of stories on the global economy. His first-hand accounts and reporting of the September 11th terrorist attacks was a part of the Wall Street Journal’s Pulitzer Prize winning coverage of the event.

A graduate of Duke University, Hilsenrath was also a summer fellow at the University of Wisconsin and an M.B.A. exchange student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his M.B.A. and a Master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
