Samsung Galaxy S5 Preorders Available Through Verizon

Updated on

The Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone is available for $250 along with a standard contract agreement, but for a limited time, Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) is also offering a $50 mail-in rebate debit card.

The buy one, get one free phone deal from Verizon

Those who want to purchase the new phone without a contract can pay the full $600. Another deal Verizon is offering is the buy one, get one free deal. Customers who purchase a Samsung Galaxy S5 can get another Galaxy S5, Samsung Ativ SE, or HTC One M8 for free. This offer is valid on phones which are purchased either as new lines or upgrades. Both phones must be purchased with two-year contracts.

Phandroid recently offered more details on the BOGO phone deal, “For starters, the device costs $199.99 on a new two-year contract agreement, a trend Verizon seemingly ditched in 2013 where their high-end smartphones consistently started at $299.99. That comes to just $599.99 off-contract. Unfortunately Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) makes no mention of Edge pricing, though we aren’t sure if that’s due to the device still being on pre-order status. We’ll be reaching out to Verizon to see if it will be available through Edge. If so, simply take the $599.99 off-contract price and divide it by 24, as you’d be paying $0 down if you opt to go that route.”

Specs and features for Samsung Galaxy S5

The Galaxy S5 has premium specs 2GB of RAM, 16 or 32 GB of user memory, a microSD slot, Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, 16MP rear camera and a 2.0 MP front camera. It also has features such as a Heart Rate Sensor, S Health, Download Booster, Finger Scanner and several camera enhancements.

The Galaxy S5 will ship on April 11th and so will the Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch. Sales of both devices should help Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) and Android overall. The South Korean tech company’s biggest rival Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 6 and iWatch later this year.
