iPhone 6 Alleged Cases Suggest New Design

Updated on

The French website Nowhere Else has posted these latest photos of cases it says are for the iPhone 6. They were made by an unnamed third party. The cases come in several colors and have an opening for a screen that is 4.7 inches in size. Most people are expecting the handset to have a screen that size and perhaps even come in a second even bigger screen option as well.

These photos are just the latest in a long line of alleged leaks. On Tuesday, someone showed off a photo of what they claimed was the front panel of the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 buttons in different places

The photos suggest that the iPhone 6 will feature a new location for the power switch, as the cases suggest that it will move from the top of the handset to the side of it.  There is also a place for volume control buttons opposite the power button and openings for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s logo and the phone camera. Another difference between the case and the design of the iPhone 5S indicates that the volume buttons are pill-shaped instead of small and circular.

CNET notes, that in the past, some case makers have designed cases for the new iPhone model based on rumors. The photos of these cases do appear to match the rumors we have heard, but it’s unclear whether they were made according to the rumor or the actual phone.  Some case makers have been known to work with companies in Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s supply chain and then create case designs based on what they hear from them.

iPhone 6 mockups displayed at electronics show

The photos of these alleged iPhone 6 cases aren’t the only supposed leaks to show up this week. Japanese website Macotakara published photos picked up by 9to5 Mac. The photos show what are said to be mockups of the iPhone 6 and a number of accessories for it. They were taken at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair, which has been going on for the last several days.

According to Macotakara’s report, there were a number of accessory makers showing off the iPhone 6 mockups they had used to create the accessories they will sell to go along with the handset.
