First Apple iPhone 6 Cases Emerge From 3D Printing

Updated on

After yesterday’s news regarding Apple iPhone 6 leaks which would seem to suggest that plans for the forthcoming smartphone are pretty much set in stone, it seems that the morsels of information provided by Eastern analysts was enough for the peripherals to start rolling in.

First Apple iPhone 6 peripherals spotted

Already today we’re hearing reports of diligent and dedicated individuals with iPhone obsessions having produced the first external cases for the iPhone 6. The functionality offered by 3D printers means that it is possible for people at home to throw together certain items extremely quickly, and it is apparent that some Apple fans have already been beavering away on producing something for the forthcoming Apple handset.

The French website NoWhereElse posted photographs of what it claims to be transparent cases for the iPhone 6. The designs even feature a cut-out section, which is presumably intended to provide a space for the rumored new position of the power button. Early indications regarding this matter have pointed to the iPhone 6’s power button being placed on the side of the phone, opposite the volume buttons.

However, the designs also seem to feature a button-shaped cut-out on top of the phone. At the time of writing, there is no indication regarding what this is intended for, but evidently the printers behind these designs expect some sort of button to be placed on top of the iPhone 6 as well.

This leak can certainly be considered speculative in nature. The French website associated with the images has been careful to point out that the source involved has no particular track record of successful leaks or sources. Thus, at this point in time it is hard to confirm the veracity of these particular images, and how accurate they will turn out to be with regard to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s final product. They should be seen as an attempt by a case producing company to essentially second guess what Apple will release.

However, based on the leaks that surfaced yesterday, which would appear to be far more solid, it is just possible that the measurements involved could be correct, as the Chinese supply line leaks which have surfaced previously have often turned out to be very accurate.

September release date

At this point in time, we don’t even know the release date of the iPhone, and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) hasn’t even confirmed its existence. It is, though, one of the worst kept secrets in the world of tech, as the arrival of a next generation iPhone all but an absolute certainty. Sources close to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) have indicated that a September release is likely for the iPhone 6, which would mean Apple moving the release somewhat forward from previous iterations of their flagship smartphone.

It goes without saying that the launch of the iPhone 6 will be the biggest technology event of the year, but this particular smartphone release is also very important for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s future as a company after its less than sparkling market performance this year. While Apple is a country mile away from being in crisis, the company will want to demonstrate to investors and market analysts that it can achieve growth in the smartphone market in the future.
