Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone 6 To Be As Thin As iPod Touch [REPORT]

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 could be as thin as the iPod touch, according to Unbox therapy. In a video, the cover made for iPhone 6 was compared with the existing iPod touch. The current generation iPod touch is placed inside the supposed 4.7 inch iPhone 6 case, and it fits inside it. A similar comparison was done last week with phones such as the iPhone 5, Nexus 5 and a Galaxy Note 3 to make a comparison with the upcoming iPhone 6.

Sleeker than Apple iPhone 5S

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPod touch was released in 2012, and is 6.1 mm thick, whereas iPhone 5S is 7.6 mm thick. If KGI securities analyst Ming–Chi Kuo is to be believed, then the iPhone 6 will be even sleeker than the iPhone 5S, around 6.5 mm to 7.0 mm.

These tests also suggest that the iPhone 6 may sport elongated, rectangular keys, similar to the iPod touch, but not like the circular ones in the Phone 5S. It is not clear if the alleged cover for the iPhone 6 is a real one, but it appears similar to the leaked covers seen already.

Other expected features in the iPhone 6

Other features that are often rumored for the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 6 are slimmer bezels, an advanced A8 processor and enhanced camera with optical image stabilization. The market is expecting the iPhone 6 4.7 inch model to be available for sales in the fall. The 5.5 inch iPhone 6 version will be not be available until towards the end of the year due to production glitches.

It is also believed that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could change the placement of the buttons in the upcoming iPhone 6. According to the reports, the sleep/wake button will be on the right side of the phone rather than on the top of the phone. The iPhone 6 will be a bit bigger, and that is why the button could be placed on the right size so that the users can easily click it without flipping the phone or rotating it.

The volume buttons could also replicate the ones on the iPad Mini, doing away with the round buttons on the iPhone 6.

On Monday, Apple shares closed up 3.87% at $594.09, and in pre-market trading today, shares were up 0.34% at $596.11.
