Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) has a fair pricing policy. The company doesn’t sell its cars at a relatively higher price tag in international markets. For example, Tesla priced its Model S in China at 734,000 yuan or $121,000, adding only the import duties, transportation charges and other unavoidable expenses to its U.S. price. In contrast, other luxury automakers sell their cars in China at double or triple the price of those same cars in the U.S. Elon Musk said that he may lose some profits by not pricing the Model S like other automakers, but he would treat Chinese consumers just like he treats the company’s U.S. customers.

On March 7, Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) announced a slash of the price of the Model S in Europe. In Germany, the company cut the price of its flagship sedan from €72,000 to €65,300. In the Netherlands, the Model S price was reduced by about €4,000 to €66,200. In Switzerland, Tesla cut the price to CHF71,900. While many speculated that the company was forced to slash prices to due weak demand for Model S across Europe, Tesla clarified that the price reduction is the direct result of appreciation of the local currency over the dollar over the past few months.

Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares rose 0.06% to $229.02 in pre-market trading Monday.
