The rumors about the iPhone 6 just keep on coming with no end in sight, except for the real launch of the handset. Twitter and Weibo users have now provided some new supposed leaks about what we can expect in the handset. Once again, there’s nothing that’s just too surprising here.
Twitter user tweets supposed iPhone 6 specs
BGR points to some tweets from Sonny Dickson, who has previously posted some pretty accurate details about Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s future devices. This time, he claims that the iPhone 6 will be utra-thin at just about 5.58 millimeters. He also says it will have an Ultra-Retina display with a pixel density of 389 pixels per inch.
As expected, the handset will probably also feature Apple’s own next-generation A8 processor, which he says will clock in at 2.6 Ghz. Dickson did not release the source of his claims but simply said that they “could be the real thing.” If he’s right about the speed of the processor, then that would make it nearly twice as fast as the processor that’s in the iPhone 5S.
Most are generally expecting a display that’s 4.7 inches in size, although Dickson did not tweet the alleged screen size. The specs he provided are slightly different from those we have heard from other sources. Other reports have suggested that the iPhone 6 could be 7 millimeters thick, which may be more likely than Dickson’s report because the iPhone 5S is 7.6 millimeters thick.
iPhone 6 may feature health sensors
Another set of supposed leaks about the iPhone 6 came from Weibo user Sun Chang Xu, who’s the chief analyst for ESM-China. G4 Games picked up on those posts over the weekend. The analyst cites “a top MEMS sensor’s friend.” The person apparently claims that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be catching up in the world of sensors with the next handset. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) already included temperature and humidity sensors, as well as a barometer, in the Galaxy S5.
She specifically says that a “pressure sensor,” along with temperature and humidity” sensors, could be in the handset. G4 Games notes that she probably isn’t talking about a blood pressure sensor, as many expect it to be included into the rumored iWatch.
The rumored sensors in the iPhone 6, however, could be used to support the increased health monitoring capabilities, if they make an appearance in the handset. We’ve heard that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working on a health and fitness app which it will call Healthbook. The iPhone 5S already has a motion co-processor which could be integrated with that app, so some believe the iPhone 6 could have even more functionality in terms of health monitoring. Of course if the iWatch really does launch this year, it will probably be designed to work with the new handset in a similar fashion to how Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s Galaxy Gear smart watch is designed to work with the Galaxy S4 handset.
