iOS 7.1 Gets Jailbreak Treatment – But Only For iPhone 4 [VIDEO]

Updated on

As we already know, iOS 7.1 has put an end to the Evasi0n jailbreak which allowed anyone with an iOS device to jailbreak their iOS 7 operating system. When Apple released iOS 7.1, they patched Evasi0n’s jailbreak, which means iOS 7.1 can no longer be jailbroken, at least not until the developers at Evad3rs release an updated version of their tool.

However, here comes a piece of good news for jailbreak users. A new YouTube video posted by an iOS hacker demonstrates an iPhone 4 jailbroken and running on iOS 7.1.

iOS 7.1 jailbreak for Apple A4 devices

This video was posted by Winocm, a seasoned jailbreak developer, and it shows how an iPhone 4 boots up in untethered mode. The video clearly demonstrates the Settings screen to show that the phone is indeed running on iOS 7.1 and is now jailbroken

Now let’s talk about the bad news before you get excited. This jailbreak will only work on devices equipped with Apple’s A4 chip. This means that only devices that will work with this jailbreak are: iPhone 4, the 4th generation iPod Touch, and the original iPad. Devices equipped with Apple’s A5, A6 and A7 chip will be much harder to crack and thus cannot be jailbroken at this moment.

Whenever such a video or a method is posted, it surely gets us excited, but then there are always some terms and conditions, and in this case, the jailbreak is not meant for any non-A4 based devices.

So for now if you’ve got any non-A4 based iOS device then you’ll need to wait until a proper working jailbreak method arrives.
