BioFuel Energy Corp. (BIOF) Continues 2014 Rally

Today’s midday gainers are BioFuel Energy Corp. (NASDAQ:BIOF), Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. (NASDAQ:ULTA) and Cooper Tire & Rubber Co (NYSE:CTB). The losers are Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc (NASDAQ:SHOS), AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVEO) and FireEye Inc (NASDAQ:FEYE).

Biofuel Energy Surges

Ending the week as our top midday gainer is BioFuel Energy Corp. (NASDAQ:BIOF), up +8.20%. The David Einhorn and Daniel Loeb small-cap pick has had quite the run this year, its price having increased +97.08% YTD.

Second is Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. (NASDAQ:ULTA), the price of which surged +6.95%. The beauty-products retailer posted results today that were better than expected, which is great news for Tiger Global Management, Steve Mandel and Ray Dalio.

And third this Friday is Cooper Tire & Rubber Co (NYSE:CTB) up 6.80%. It also released results today and topped analysts’ consensus on Q4 EPS. Cooper is in the portfolios of Farallon Capital and John Paulson.

Sears Misses the Mark on Revenues

Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores Inc (NASDAQ:SHOS) slipped -7.79% midday today. The Edward Lampert investment missed expectations on revenues, which it reported today.

Second is AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVEO), down -2.49%. The therapeutics company released results today, beating expectations, but has also had its shares downgraded by RBC Capital. Aveo is a Seth Klarman asset.

Third is FireEye Inc (NASDAQ:FEYE), down -2.44%. One of the company’s major shareholders unloaded its stake today, hence the dip. Tiger Global Management has a position in FireEye.
