Akre Capital Buys Danaher, Liberty Interactive; Sells NuStar Energy

Akre Capital filed its 13F statement as of December 31, 2013 with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The regulatory filings reveal the investment advisor has a market value of $2,700,615,000. Its top 10 holdings represent a substantial 73.13% of its portfolio. Akre added 5 new stocks to its portfolio, increased stakes in 12 stocks, exited 1 stock and reduced holdings in 7 stocks.

Akre’s major new positions

Akre Capital acquired 280,000 shares of Danaher Corporation (NYSE:DHR) for $21.61 million, representing 0.80% of its overall portfolio. Liberty Interactive (Interactive group) (NASDAQ:LINTA) was the other new addition, of which Akre Capital purchased 45,000 shares valued at $5.51 million.

The wholesaler of used vehicles, CarMax, Inc (NYSE:KMX) was another new addition of Akre Capital. The investment advisor purchased 100,000 shares of CarMax valued at $4.70 million constituting 0.17% of its overall portfolio. Mastercard Inc (NYSE:MA) was the biggest position of Akre Capital as of December 31, 2013. The investment advisor owns 396,463 shares that are currently valued at $331.22 million representing a substantial 12.26% of its overall portfolio.

The second largest holding was Moody’s Corporation (NYSE:MCO) of which Akre Capital owns 3,480,950 shares that are currently valued at $273.15 million representing 10.11% of its total portfolio. The investment advisor’s third largest holding was Colfax Corporation in which it owns 4,224,220 shares valued at $269.04 million, constituting 9.96% of its overall portfolio.

American Tower Corp (NYSE:AMT) was the fourth largest holding of Akre Capital.
