Below is an overview of some of the major value investors and hedge funds based on their 2013 fourth quarter 13F SEC Filings. These filings mostly cover equities and ETFs, so foreign stocks, bonds, and other securities don’t appear. Since the 13Fs cover Q42013, some of these positions may have changed since the beginning of the year.

NOTE: AUM refers to 13F data not total AUM, which in many cases is much larger.

Assets under Management (AUM): $3.5 billion

Baupost opened new positions in Fidelity National Financial Inc (NYSE:FNF), Kindred Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:KIN), and Alon USA Partners LP (NYSE:ALDW) last quarter. It also nearly tripled its position in PBF Energy Inc (NYSE:PBF) and increased Idenix Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:IDIX) and Syneron Medical Ltd. (NASDAQ:ELOS) by more than 40% each. It exited its positions in Ituran Location and Control Ltd. (US) (NASDAQ:ITRN), Oracle Corporation (NYSE:ORCL), Micron Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MU), and Central Pacific Financial Corp. (NYSE:CPF).

Warren Buffett – Berkshire Hathaway Inc

AUM: $105 billion

Berkshire Hathaway opened positions in Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) and Liberty Global Plc. It more than doubled its position in USG Corporation (NYSE:USG) and increased its position in General Electric Company (NYSE:GE) by 2009%, though it is still one of the groups’ smaller positions. Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE:BRK.A) (NYSE:BRK.B) closed its positions in DISH Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH) and GlaxoSmithKline plc (NYSE:GSK) (LON:GSK), while its position in Washington Post Co was changed to Graham Holdings Co (NYSE:GHC) due to a corporate name change.

AUM: $30 billion

Icahn opened a new position in Hologic, Inc. (NASDAQ:HOLX), and increased its position in Talisman Energy Inc. (NYSE:TLM) by 1093%, with the next largest percentage increase being Apple stock up 43.7%. Icahn closed its position in Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO).

AUM: $4.4 billion

Elliott Management opened positions in Juniper Networks, Inc. (NYSE:JNPR), Companhia de Saneamento Basico (NYSE:SBS), Time Warner Inc (NYSE:TWX), Spdr Series Trust (NYSEARCA:IPE), General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC), and CorMedix Inc.
