A visit to Tumblr’s site shows a 502 or “bad gateway” error. The site hosts more than 152 million blogs, many of which are written by teenagers. It was acquired by Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) last year for $1.1 billion.
According to the site Down Right Now, Tumblr does indeed appear to be down for many users. The site uses user repots on its own site, plus Twitter reports and also feeds and official announcements. This outage looks to be the longest one in some time. Down Right Now shows another service disruption from Tumblr about 12 hours ago, but that one was short compared to the current one, which started at around 3:20 p.m. Eastern. As of this writing, that means the site has been down for at least 30 minutes.
