Samsung Is The Most Trusted Brand In India, Not Nokia [REPORT]

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) topped Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) to become the most trusted Indian brands across sectors, according to a new survey called Brand Trust Report. The South Korean firm bagged the top spot while Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) gained entry among the top ten, jumping 69 ranks.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) topped the list in the durables section overtaking rivals Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) and HTC, and followed closely by Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE) and Tata, which is the only Indian brand among the top 5 with the highest trust quotient index.

In the durables section, a fourth spot was bagged by LG electronics while Nokia came fifth in personal gadgets section. Other names in the top ten lists were Hewlett Packard, Hero, Honda, Reliance and M&M respectively. From the BFSI sector, only LIC found a place in the most trusted brands list. PC maker Hewlett Packard gained 14 places to come at a sixth spot while Hero Group came at seven leaping 79 ranks.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan was named as the most-trusted living person in India, and two brands endorsed by Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Actor and a former Miss World) made it to the list of top brands. Actor Shah Rukh Khan and former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar maintained their positions on the list.

Brands were ranked on many criteria

N. Chandramouli, CEO, Trust Research Advisory (TRA), said, “the survey was conducted with salaried participants in companies with a minimum of 50,000 crore turn-over. Criteria such as their active online purchases and durables owned were taken into consideration.”

The survey, which covered 16 major Indian cities, included participants between the ages of 21-50. A comparative list was made after questioning the participants on 61 critical points. For the last four years, the Brand Trust Report has been conducted by Trust Research Advisory. The ranks are given based on numerous criteria including active advertisement campaigns, consumer feedback and market penetration of brands.  Among the 100 Most Trusted brands, 75 brands gained in rankings while 25 lost their spots.

Next week, TRA will come up with a list of top political parties, which will be a must watch list especially with the county facing general elections this year.
