(NASDAQ:NFLX) users found that more than 50% respondents were more willing to exercise rather than sitting on the couch if they could watch their favorite TV shows or movies. If the shows are commercial-free, like the ones Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) offers, the number goes even higher.

Netflix can be a reason to work out more

Over 45% people said they would feel more motivated to work out if they could watch their favorite show on demand while exercising. TV sitcoms topped the list of programs people prefer to watch while working out as 36% respondents favored it. Dramas were second most popular programs with 27%, sci-fi/fantasy was the favorite of 24% respondents while 20% preferred reality shows.

(NASDAQ:NFLX) said in a statement that it’s working with popular fitness expert Harley Pasternak to raise awareness among people that incorporating entertainment in their fitness program can actually help them. Pasternak said in a statement that it’s the ‘Netflix effect’. His clients have found that Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) makes cardio much easier and entertaining. He added that it makes your workout easier, and you look forward to them more.

Burn calories while watching a show on Netflix

The video streaming company also released an infographic “Watch It While You Work It.” It shows how many calories you are going to burn while watching various shows on the video streaming site. For example, you’d burn about 300 calories on elliptical while watching one episode of Family Guy. And burn 4500 calories running on treadmill at 4mph while watching a full session of House of Cards.

Watching your favorite show while working out can help you work out more. Maybe Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) will come pre-installed in future treadmills.
