Total U.S. weekly intermodal volume for the week ending December 21 was 255,456 units, the American Association of Railroads reports. That is a 6.4% increase from the same period last year.
The 10-week moving average of the year over year change in intermodal rail traffic is 7.7%.
Intermodal rail represents only finished goods, while carload rail contains mostly bulk commodities.
