The Nokia Lumia 1320 phablet premieres in China today. Later on the phone will debut in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and other countries. There is no report on whether this phone will arrive in the United States. This new phone will be similar to the Nokia 1520 with lower specs.

Nokia Lumia 1320 specifications

Highlights for this new phone include a 1.7GHz Snapdragon Processor, 1GB of RAM, 3400mAh battery, 8GB of storage with microSD card slot to support up to 64GB of storage, 5-megapixel camera, VGA front-facing camera, Windows 8 operating system, and pre-installed applications. Users can expect to find apps like Nokia Beamer, HERE Live Sight, and HERE Maps included with the phone. This phone was initially slated for a January release but today’s early release is a nice surprise. The device will retail for $339.

Next month, Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) will release the Asha 500 and Asha 503 phones in India. The former features a 2MP camera and 2.8 inch screen. The latter features a 3-inch Gorilla Glass screen, 3.5G HSPA speed, and 5MP camera. Both phones will be available in a range of bright hues.

Nokia’s affordable smartphone market

Sari Harju (Director for Nokia India smartphones) said, “The affordable smartphone market is making headway in the country and we are expanding the Asha family to offer consumers a range of smartphone capabilities at price points to suit a variety of needs.”

The smartphone market is a crucial market for tech companies. Although the market is currently dominated by the likes of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Android-based phones, there is still a little room for other companies to stake their claim in the market. Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) is a brand that hasn’t found the same level of success their competition has, but as a whole the Finnish-based tech giant still manages to generate a decent amount of interest. Nokia fans have a lot to look forward to.
