Could Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) venture into gaming territory? The company’s patent design sketch shows a Oculus Rift-Style headset, a pair of 3D glasses which offer a personal screen on a frame with display for each eye.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) initially created a video headset seven years ago but the patent wasn’t filed until 2009. Since the filing, the iPad maker has made some changes to keep their project evolving. The most recent change involves hidden audio sensors. Apple recently acquired a few patents from PrimeSense which is an advanced headset.
Apple considers gaming device
On Wednesday, the United States Patent and Trademark Office published the patent with a more detailed patent that is similar to Oculus Rift. Patently Apple elaborated, “Apple’s patent makes it clear that gaming is one of the main entertainment options for this device. It’s also designed to be a personal display system so that you could enjoy full HD widescreen experiences on the go with your iPhone or at Home with your Apple TV. Without a doubt, it’s the surprise granted patent of the year. Apple has been granted a patent today for their invention relating to a head mounted display that’s a shocker. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) obviously filed this under the names of their engineering team originally as this didn’t surface as a patent application under Apple. Therefore we’ll cover this fantastic patent in full detail as if it were a patent application report.”
Goggle system could change technology
It’s important to point out that this patent is no promise of a future product. It does show that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is seriously thinking about the future of technology. Thanks to the strong interest in Google Glass, there is a possibility of new technologies that revolutionize the way people consume entertainment. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new patent has strong possibilities with their goggle system which could be used as a computer, mobile communications device, gaming device, and more.
What sets this device apart from similar gadgets is that it adjusts to the user’s eyes which means those who typically wear glasses won’t have to wear them with this device.
