The Nokia Lumia 1520 is now available for preorders through Microsoft and AT&T. The official launch date for the phablet is November 22nd but fans can preorder the phone in advance.
The Lumia 1520 starts at $199 with a two-year contract. The phone can also be purchased for $584 a month without a contract. The phone is available through AT&T’s Next Installment plan starting at $27 a month. Microsoft also sells the phone for $199 with contract and $549 without a contract.
Nokia Lumia 1520 features
The phone features a 6-inch 1080p display, 20-megapixel camera with LED flash, and quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Another bonus for this particular phone is built-in Microsoft Office which includes Excel, Power Point, and Word.
Customers who order the new phablet phone through Microsoft through November 22 will receive a $50 gift card to the Microsoft Store, a $20 Nokia gift card, a $39.99 flip cover for free, and a free download of Halo: Spartan Assault. Shoppers who purchase the 1520 after the launch will get the same package minus the cover.
AT&T is the exclusive carrier for the Lumia 1520.
Arrival of the Lumia 1520
Earlier this week, Microsoft posted the pre-order page a bit early with a release date of November 15th. The company then pulled down the page. Microsoft also posted this explanation: “We’re so excited with the upcoming arrival of the Lumia 1520 that a product page went up prematurely last night on MicrosoftStore.com.”
This phone is the first phablet from the Windows phone lineup and it’s a big deal for Microsoft. Tablet-style phones have been a trend in the Android market. HTC, Sony, Samung, and LG offer larger smartphones. Apple has yet to release a phablet, but there is much speculation that they will soon enough. Larger phones are now in demand and the new Nokia Lumia 1520 shows that Microsoft is ready to up their game. Phablets are the phone trend of the moment and Microsoft is banking on a possible hit.
