The purported Apple iWatch could come in two different screen sizes for women and men. Supply chain analysis firm DisplaySearch’s David Hsieh shared information from cited sources during an industry conference in Taiwan. He reported that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will create a wearable device with an OLED display that comes in two screen size options: 1.7 inches for men and 1.3 inches for women.
Apple iWatch rumors
Apple Insider added, “Rumors of a wearable device from the Cupertino, Calif.-based company have been circulating for years, and have picked up significantly in 2013. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is said to have a team of more than 100 employees working on the project, and has snapped up industry experts in fashion, wearable devices, and fitness throughout the year.”
The smartwatch will reportedly feature an array of biometric sensors, and some predict this product will be able to function as a stand-alone product instead of working in conjunction with another product much like the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch does.
Apple TV on back burner in favor of iWatch
It looks like Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) really has plans to launch a watch in the near future. There was a recent report that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is putting their Apple TV on the back burner in hopes to put more focus on the iWatch. Display Search’s Paul Gagnon detailed why the decision was made: “Indeed, the existing Apple TV box may be an impediment to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s success with a smart TV product, which as a category, is not growing in the U.S. as many had hoped for. Our most recent smart TV forecast is that they will only account for about a quarter of TV shipments in 2013, and grow very slowly from there, with the focus on low-end premium models.”
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iWatch will likely come out next year, but for now the Cupertino-based tech giant is keeping quiet about the purported device. Fans will have to wait and see what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has next for them.
