Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPad Air Adopted Faster Than Predecessor

Any concern regarding sales over the latest tablet should be alleviated as one analytics firm shared good news. Mobile analytics firm Fiksu reported on Sunday that the iPad Air saw five times the adoption rate of the iPad 4 during the first weekend. The adoption rate is also three times the rate of the original iPad Mini.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPad Air Adopted Faster Than Predecessor

Even more significant, the adoption rate for the iPad Air is twice as high as the iPad 4 and iPad Mini combined.

Fiksu reported on Sunday that the new tablet accounted for 0.75 percent of all the iPads by Fiksu, whereas the iPad 4 only accounted for 0.37 percent of and the iPad Mini accounted for 0.35 percent. On Monday, the iPad 2 took the lead with 37.1 percent. The iPad 4 is now in second place with 22.5 percent and the iPad Mini was 20.8 percent.

The numbers for the iPad Mini second generation aren’t available yet because the tablet hasn’t hit retail stores yet.

Apple has yet to share early sale numbers

Despite the impressive numbers, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has yet to share its early sale numbers. The iPhone maker tends to release launch weekend sale reports during the early morning hour of 5:30 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. It’s possible that the company has plans to give a press release later on, or the company could be waiting for the iPad Mini 2 to be released at the end of this month.

When the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were initially launched during early fall, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shared sale numbers the following Monday after launch weekend. Why Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) isn’t proudly sharing the news with investors and tech fans is a mystery.

Apple still leading the tablet market

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is still leading the tablet market. Although perhaps the numbers were not significantly higher than previous versions, it still shows that Apple is in the game.

One change that will help the tech giant sell more iPad Air tablets is that for the first time, the iPad is a truly global device. It’s an unlocked device that supports:

GSM/GPRS/EDGE/CDMA/EVDO/UMTS/WCDMA/HSDPA/LTE.
