Today’s top gainer is gold mining company International Tower Hill Mines Ltd. (NYSE:THM), which, despite a bad day for gold in general, had a great performance. Its stock is up +12.05%, reaching $0.36. Billionaire John Paulson has been increasing his position in THM over time. In September 2010, he held five million shares, but today, he owns more than 17 million, representing 0.07% of his portfolio. Paulson paid an average price of $2.78, much higher than today’s price.

Following THM is healthcare company McKesson Corporation (NYSE:MCK), which shot up +3.18% following the announcement of a possible acquisition of its rivals. Investor Leon Cooperman benefited here. The billionaire holds 672,000 MCK shares (1.25% of his portfolio), bought last quarter. Today, the asset closed at $133.69, while Cooper paid an average price of $111.21– significantly less.

 

The last stock with a major gain this Tuesday is Cooper Tire & Rubber Company (NYSE:CTB). The tire company is up +3.03%, hitting $26.50. This is good news for many billionaires. For instance, John Paulson holds five million shares (1.17% of his holdings), which cost him an average price of $28.95. And Thomas Steyer owns 810,000 shares (0.52% of his fund), also bought at $28.95.

Daily Losers

The first stock on our list of losers is biopharmaceutical company Idenix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDIX). Its stock price dipped -16.28% today, falling to $3.98. The drop likely comes as the result of the announcement made by one of Idenix’s rivals that it would be merging with another pharmaceutical company, reports Bloomberg. Seth Klarman is the only billionaire among the iBillionaire players with a position in IDIX. Klarman holds 26.7 million shares (2.40% of his fund), which cost him an average price of $6.56.

 

The second company with a major loss today is online social platform YY Inc. (NASDAQ:YY). The stock dipped -15.03%, closing at $41.71 and proving a hit to Chase Coleman and Feroz Dewan of Tiger Global. Tiger holds 1.4 million YY shares (0.69% of its portfolio) after selling off  over one million last quarter. Each asset cost the fund $13.03.

 

Allied Nevada Gold Corp. (NYSEMKT:ANV) (TSE:ANV), a gold and silver producer, is the last company on our daily loser list. The stock dropped -8.87% to $4.42. Stockholder John Paulson has stakes in this company with 1.5 million shares, corresponding to 0.07% of his fund. The billionaire paid an average price of $34.10 per share, meaning he’s down -87.04% in this position.
