Apple iPad Event: Things You Need To Know

Updated on

Like always, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) tries hard to keep secrets within their walls, but the company simply can’t. Until now, we knew that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was going to launch the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, but what was not clear was when the company will announce these products. According to AllThingsD, Apple will be announcing both these products at an event later this month.

Apple iPad Event: Things You Need To Know

Apple to unveil new iPads

John Paczkowski of AllThingsD has just claimed that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to unveil the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 on Tuesday, October 22nd. While the star of the event will be Apple’s tablets, the company might possibly announce the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks during the same event.

AllThingsD has always remained a very respectable source for such information, and looking at its past record, we have very little reason to doubt anything about this event. Previous reports suggested that the iPad mini 2 won’t be hitting shelves any time this year, but indeed those reports were not true.

People familiar with Apple’s plans tell AllThingsD that the company will hold its next invitation-only event on Tuesday, October 22. The focal point of the gathering will be the latest updates to the company’s iPad line, but the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks will likely get some stage time as well, I’m told.

Talking about the fifth-generation iPad, it is expected to come with a thinner and lighter design, much like the iPad mini. It will be powered by by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s new 64-bit A7 chip. The second generation iPad mini will get a much-needed Retina display, and hopefully A7 chip. Right now it’s not clear whether both these iPads will be getting the Touch ID fingerprint sensor feature.

Apart from the specs, speculations have started on whether there will be a gold color option for both the iPads or not. We’ve still got some days to go until the official unveiling event, and perhaps some more leaks and rumors will clear our doubts on that.

Also it would be interesting to state that Microsoft’s new Surface 2 is going to debut in the United States on the same date. What a coincidence!
