Retail Sales Increase 0.2 Percent in August

The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for August, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $426.6 billion. This is an increase of 0.2%from the previous month and is 4.7% above August 2012.

Auto and other motor vehicle dealers were up 12.3% from August 2012 and nonstore retailers were up 10.2% from last year.
