We’re starting to hear more and more about Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s tablet, which is currently codenamed Sirius. However, Twitter tipster @evleaks reports that the tablet’s official name will be the Lumia 2520 when it is launched, which we are expecting very soon.

Nokia Windows RT Tablet To Be Called Lumia 2520

Nokia’s tablet expected to be unveiled next month

We heard recently that Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) will probably unveil its Windows RT tablet at its planned Oct. 22 event. The company announced the date of that event earlier this month, and since then the rumors about what it has in store for consumers have been rolling in. Early hints suggested that we might see Nokia’s phablet-sized Lumia 1520, but late last week, @evleaks said we will probably see the Sirius tablet as well.

Expectations for Nokia’s tablet

Photos we have seen of the purported Nokia tablet show that it does indeed look like it belongs to the Lumia line of devices. The Lumia 2520 is expected to be 10.1 inches and run on Windows RT. It is also believed to be thinner than the current generation of the iPad, and it will likely come in more than one color, just like the phones of the Lumia line.

When Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) completes the purchase of Nokia’s devices division, it’s u unclear whether it will continue to use the Lumia name, although CEO Steve Ballmer has said they would do a better job of naming devices than Nokia has done. After all, anyone who is not really into reading tech news all the time is liable to get confused by the numbering system of Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s Lumia line, especially if that name is carried into tablets, as it appears to be.

However, the Lumia name itself does have value as Nokia has managed to grow the name within the Windows Phone platform.
