Julian Robertson and Tiger Cubs Have Great Week

After originally closing his legendary hedge fund, Tiger Management, in 2000, Julian Robertson became a pioneer in seeding and mentoring handpicked hedge funds, known as Tiger Cubs. He has seeded over 40 funds, the majority of which operate out of 101 Park Avenue, where Robertson himself runs his family office. His Robertson Foundation has nearly $850 million in assets and focuses its work in four areas: education, the environment, medical research and religion and spirituality.

Weekly performance

The manager of Tiger Management, Julian Robertson, is the weekly gainer. The Billionaire’s portfolio had the best performance with a +3.48% portfolio value increase, leaving behind Steve Mandel +3.35% and Bill Ackman +3.10%, compared with the SP500 that gained +1.46%

 

Julian Robertson has a diverse portfolio invested in different companies that had a great performance during the week. For instance, Priceline Com Inc (NASDAQ:PCLN), which represents 2.56% of the investor’s portfolio, has increased +3.14%. Other Billionaires that own PCLN are: Steve Mandel holds a 1.7 million shares position representing 6.92% of his portfolio and Tiger Global 474k shares with a 6.82% exposure.

 

Another stock that had an excellent performance this week was Charter Communications, Inc. (CHTR), whose share price climbed +3.14% ($133.84). The weekly gainer, Julian Robertson, owns 184k shares of this company, representing 2.89% of his Fund’s portfolio. Others billionaires, such as Thomas Stayers and George Soros, both owns over a million CHTR shares.

During the week the credit card company, Visa inc (NYSE:V), showed a great performance of +2.81%. The investor, Chase Coleman and Feroz Dewan, is the billionaire with more exposure in the company with a portfolio allocation of 4.04%. As Tiger Global, Robertson has a significative number of shares, 64k which represents 1.47% of his Fund.

The fourth place is to Dollar Gen Corp. (NYSE:DG), whose performance was +2,61% during the last week. The billionaire with the most shares in this company is the brazilian investor Jorge Lemann, who owns a total of 1.4 millions shares (9.64% of his found). On the other hand, Julian Robertson, holds  272k shares, a position that represents 1.74% of his portfolio.

Finally the fifth place is to QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM), the digital telecommunication company, which was one of the firms that had a great week in the stock market. The company increased its share price value in +2.01% ($69.06), the major stockholder billionaire is Leon Cooperman, who holds more than 3 millions shares of the company (3.71% of his portfolio). As Cooperman, Robertsons is owner of more than 270k shares, which represent 2.10% of his fund.
