iPhone 6: The Next Apple Revolution

Updated on

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) just launched its latest premium iPhone offering, the iPhone 5s, last Friday, but parts of the world are already waiting for the company’s next smartphone with bated breath. iPhone 6 rumors have become one of the dominant forces in Internet discourse, and there’s already a huge amount of speculation as to what the device will have on the inside and what it will look like on the outside.

iPhone 6: The Next Apple Revolution

The real question, however, is what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) needs to do in order to make its next device revolutionary. Putting 4GB of RAM in the iPhone 6 isn’t the sort of thing that drives sales through the roof. We know the iPhone 6 is going to be faster, but that means little in the age of super fast devices. There are some things Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could do to really drive innovation.

Messing with the iPhone 6 form

The iPhone 6 will probably have a bigger screen, but that really isn’t all that exciting. It will be a better experience to use iOS on a much bigger screen, but not that much of a break from the past. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) recently filed for a patent that could see the form of the iPhone 6 change drastically.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has patented multiple new Liquidmetal processes that could deliver an iPhone 6 in a more irregular shape. Several rumors have surfaced that the next smart phone from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will have a touch screen on the side to quickly launch applications. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could do a hundred thousand different things with the shape and form of the iPhone 6.

A really innovative designed iPhone 6 could make Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) appear like the company it was when it first released the iPhone, and quell rumors that it has lost its creative chops. An iPhone with a really unique form would make people stop in the street and ask for a look. It would make the iPhone truly cool once again.

iPhone 6 revolutionary features

Most of the news out there regarding the features the iPhone 6 could have are quite boring. The device might have a longer battery life or a brighter screen. It may be more durable or have a better Siri. These features are incrementally good but they’re not revolutionary.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) needs to bring a revolution to the features on its phone if it wants to break the mold once again. Users want certain features to make the iPhone 6 cool, not just features that make it incrementally better.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could include a full-blown projector in the iPhone 6, but that might be beyond the bounds of possibility given the battery in the iPhone. Wireless charging would be another cool feature, as would some kind of motion control camera built into the device.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) needs to blow the world away with the iPhone 6. The company needs to make the device cool again so that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) can once again rule the minds of consumer electronics lovers. Another incremental update could be a disaster.
