iPhone 6 Rumors On Apple’s Big Event Day: Release Date, Specs

Updated on

Now that the iPhone 5S has made it’s debut, the anticpiation for the iPhone 6 is starting to build up. Unlike Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s biggest competitors on the Android front, the Cupertino-based tech giant doesn’t have the phone with the highest resolution or the fastest processor. Nevertheless, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) still manages to remain relevant by offering smartphones with improved hardware and operating systems. Since the iPhone 5S was essentially just a revamped version of the iPhone 5 (much like 4S was a revamped version of 4), we’re expecting a significant upgrade with the iPhone 6.

iPhone 6 Rumors On Apple's Big Event Day: Release Date, Specs

Predictions for iPhone 6

Given the history of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and iPhone release dates, we can expect the iPhone 6 to be released next year. It’s still too early to predict what the iPhone 6 will bring in terms of appearance and features, but that still doesn’t stop people from making predictions. Since the current trend is large smartphone displays, it’s likely that the iPhone will feature a larger Retina display, because what’s an Apple product without it? It’s predicted that Apple will give the iPhone 6 a 4.8 inch screen, which would make the size of the phone similar to the Galaxy S4.

Larger screen for iPhone 6

With that said, it’s possible that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may not opt for a larger screen. The tech company’s chief executive officer Tim Cook denied the possibility of a larger iPhone 6 during an earnings call. He said, “My view continues to be that the iPhone 5 has the absolute best display in the industry, and we always strive to create the very best display for our customers. Some customers value large screen size, others value other factors such as resolution, colour quality, white balance, brightness, reflectivity, screen longevity, power consumption, portability, compatibility with apps and many things. Our competitors had made some significant trade-offs in many of these areas in order to ship a larger display. We would not ship a larger display iPhone while these trade-offs exist.”

It’s important to point out that he meant Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) wouldn’t launch a larger screen smartphone until they get everything smoothed out.

Other possibilities for the iPhone 6 include an improved camera, more storage capacity and possibly NFC. Over the next few months, we should hear more rumors regarding the next generation.
