The gold iPhone 5S has been the topic of numerous articles ever since the rumor started picking up steam this month. Now the Japanese site Weekly ASCII has published photos of what it claims is the gold iPhone 5S. One of the photos shows the gold model next to the black and white models of the iPhone 5.

Clues about the iPhone 5S

If the photos are legit, it certainly looks like the iPhone 5S is going to be about the same size as the iPhone 5. Most fans of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s products seem to finally be coming to grips with the lack of a big screen model this year.

The gold color is indeed more of a champagne color rather than a metallic gold, as had been suggested recently by sources which informed All Things D. The Japanese site claims that the gold casing was produced by Moumontai, a parts supplier.

iPhone 5S unveiling on Sept. 10?

It’s widely expected that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will hold an unveiling event for the iPhone 5S and the low cost iPhone 5C on Sept. 10. The company has not confirmed this rumor, although pretty much every tech blog and publication has come to expect that this is the date when the device will finally be unveiled.

Shares of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) topped $500 recently, although today they have dipped just below that. Nonetheless, they continue to do well ahead of the iPhone 5S unveiling. Bernstein analysts said this week that Apple shares have historically outperformed one to two months before announcements regarding the company’s new products.

They said this year Apple shares already surpassed the historical average outperformance which came ahead of announcement about Apple products in the past. No doubt this year investors are looking forward not just to a single new iPhone model, but to the expectation that there will be two different models—another first for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).
