Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) TV users report that individual Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) profiles are now appearing on the device. That feature wasn’t supposed to be launched until August, so it’s a few days early for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) TV, according to MacRumors’ Juli Clover.

Netflix delivers personalized user profiles

Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) first showed off its user profiles earlier this year. The company was reported to be testing individual user profiles as early as February. The video streaming giant is constantly looking for ways to keep the suggestions it makes to users as relevant to their tastes as possible.

Initially only certain users were able to access the beta, but now it seems to be available to all users of the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) TV. The feature makes it easier for multiple users of the same Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) account to personalize their profiles and content suggestions.

Each family member or user on the Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) account can create their own separate profile, utilizing avatars which can be customized. Viewing history is then logged according to the profile rather than the entire account so that Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) can better target its content suggestions to each user. Parents can also set controls on the profiles of their children to keep them from watching some types of content.

The Apple TV is special, but full functionality still lacking

Apparently users of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Apple TV are special because the feature is available for them a few days before it becomes available to all Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) users. A customer service representative for Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) told MacRumors that the profiles Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) TV users are seeing are those that were previously created when they were using the company’s DVD service.

The site was told that the profiles can’t be changed currently and that more users can’t be added to Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) accounts. According to Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX), the feature will be fully rolled out with complete functionality to all Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) users this summer.
