The Egyptian army has granted all political parties 48 hours to end the political crisis before they announce a road map for the future. This basically means that the Army has threatened to depose of Mohamed Mursi unless things calm down within the next 48 hours.
Breaking: Four ministers resign in Egypt
Four top officials resigned on Monday after anti-regime demonstrations swept Egypt on Sunday, calling for the ouster of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi, Reuters reported.
Tourism Minister Hisham Zazou, Communications Minister Atef Helmy, Environmental Affairs Minister Khaled Fahmy and Parliamentary and Legal Affairs Minister Hatem Bagato have submitted their resignations to the cabinet of Prime Minster Hisham Kandil.
Anti-Mohamed Mursi demonstrations in Egypt leave 16 dead
Egypt’s health ministry announced on Monday that 16 people have been killed and 781 have been injured in confrontations between opponents and supporters of President Mohamed Mursi which began late on Sunday in light of anti-regime protests.
Health Minister Mostafa Hamed reported one death in each of Beni Suef, Alexandria, Kafr al-Sheikh and Fayoum, reported the state news agency.
The minister also reported three deaths in Assiut, nine in Cairo, including one at the presidential palace, and eight in front of the Muslim Brotherhood’s headquarters in Mokattam.
He added that all of the injured people were dismissed from the local hospitals where they were admitted for treatment, except for 183 of them who still require medical attention.
Most of the injured were suffering from bruises and fractures, while 186 sustained birdshot and gunshot injuries.
Political forces isolate Qalubiya’s governor
Revolutionary forces in Qalubiya announced on Monday the isolation of its governor and the appointment of a civilian council instead, formed of ten members from different political backgrounds, to run its affairs until a new governor is elected.
The governorate’s military counselor was notified of the decision so that it is implemented promptly to avoid escalation, said a statement by the revolutionary forces as reported by the Middle East News Agency.
Several parties have signed the statement, including the Dostour, Tagamoa and the Popular Current parties.
Meanwhile, the protesters continue to close the governorate’s city council and prevent the governor and employees from entry into the building.
They chanted anti-regime slogans and called on others to join their protests and sit-in until President Mohamed Mursi is toppled.
