Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), in an effort to make conversations more public, announced that users can now embed Facebook posts to their blogs and websites. Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) has already started to roll out this functionality on five sites – CNN, Bleacher Report, Huffington Post, Mashable and People. In the coming weeks, this feature will be available for everyone.
Facebook’s Dave Capra says “Embedded Posts display just like they do on Facebook, with the ability to show pictures, videos, hashtags, and other content.” People can like, share, follow other posts, view comments, photos, hashtags and more right from the embedded post. It’s like a mini Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) if you’re going to embed a post on your website, with all available interactive options.
However, posts can only be embedded if they are publicly shared. You can embed posts from pages and Facebook users, and they can be anything like status updates, photos, videos, etc, but the only thing that you need to take care of is that they should be set to “Public” visibility.
How to embed Facebook posts to a website
To embed a post, you need to first check if the post is public by hovering over the audience selector (which is indicated by a globe icon). If it says Public then you’re good to go.
From the drop-down menu near the post, click on “Embed Post.”
In the resulting dialog box, simply copy the code and paste it on your own website or blog.
So that’s how you can embed a post from Facebook to your own webpage. The process is kept so simple that anyone can do it; even less tech savvy users.
Of course, a large number of Facebook users set their post to private and no doubt they should be, but once this feature is available for everyone, their Public posts are going to get more exposure on the web. Anyone will be able to embed Public posts to their websites – you’ve been warned.
