Updated on

New iPhone users are currently experiencing problems with the activation process. Right now, the check-in process with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not working for new clients and this leaves customers with new purchases out of luck. MacRumors first shared the rumor. They explained, “While Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is still working to bring its developer site back up a week after taken offline due to a security breach, the company appears to be experiencing another problem with its systems today, as a number of MacRumors have reported they are unable to activate their new iPhones. Other reports are showing up on Twitter as the problems continue.”

Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPhone Activation Servers Are Down

Apple reported for server failure

One tipster who called Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to report the problem reports that the activation servers are still down. One AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) employee also told MacRumors that the phone company has confirmed the outage. Although the problem was first reported three hours ago, there is no word on when we can expect the problem to be resolved. There are also complaints on the official Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) message boards regarding the problem.

CNET explained that the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s developers site and nearly all their connected servers are close to a full week of unavailability. That’s why Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) closed down the site last week, because of a reported intruder attack. It appears that this week’s problem is not related. The Cupertino-based company has yet to share a statement regarding the matter.

Right now, new users will have to wait until Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) activates the phones. For now, the phones are pretty much useless. Hopefully, the problem will get corrected before the day ends. Oftentimes, websites and their servers go down for various reasons. When such outages occur, it leaves tech customers with frustration. For customers who are trying to activate their new iPhones today, that frustration is magnified. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is a smart company and it should be a matter of time until the matter is resolved.

Update at 2:40 PM Est: The issue has now been resolved.
