Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) are in “constant business discussions on a long list of issues,” Schmidt said.

Schmidt said that Nikesh Arora, Google’s chief business officer held many meetings with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) executives, though he did not reveal any details of the meetings, says a report from Reuters.

How the rift was created?

Earlier also Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) were in close relationship, but a rift was created after Google came up with its own Android Operating System, which became the biggest hit amongst the Smartphones. The distance and rivalry between both the companies was evident when Schmidt back in October 2012, said that competition between both the companies is the “defining fight of the  industry today.”

Schmidt resigned from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Board of Directors in 2009, after Google’s Chrome OS was launched.

Apple stopped using Google data

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has also made sure that it does not use the Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) data in any app of the iOS. For instance, Google assets were used to make the first five iterations of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) mobile OS incorporating Maps and YouTube. Apple stopped using Google Maps in its iOS 6 and created its own Map App. However, the native map app of iOS suffered many errors and Google once again ported its map application on the latest version of Apple’s iPhone.

Google started showing ads on YouTube once it was removed from the iOS. Previously, Apple did not allow showing ads on YouTube. Vice President of YouTube said that after the apps were removed from iOS, the revenue increased thrice in the six months period.

Google expanding in new markets

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is the most dominant search engine company in the world, and it is expanding in the new markets in recent years. Google took over Motorola mobility unit and offers rapid internet services in some of the cities in the United States. The company is also designing wearable technology and self driving cars.

Chairman Schmidt said that it will take years for Google’s self driving automobile technology to be available commercially rather than decades. “The technology has to be right. The regulation has to be right. The partnerships have to be right,” he said, noting that Google has talked to “every single car company.”
