Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) CEO At Press Event

Speaking at a press event, Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO)’s CEO Marissa Mayer said that “we want to make Flickr awesome again.” The three big points that went into this idea is: utilization of full-resolution images, availability across devices like iOS and Android and the ability to store every photo a user could possibly take. The company detailed the changes at a press event Monday in New York’s Times Square area. The event was also attended by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Tumblr CEO David Karp.

Here’s what Marissa Mayer has to say in a blog post

Today, we’re thrilled to take Flickr even further with a beautiful, completely re-imagined experience that puts photos front and center. When it comes to photography and technology, its limits shouldn’t hinder the experience. So we’re also giving our Flickr users one terabyte of space — for free.

Apart from a redesigned Flickr experience, users would also get a massive one terabyte of space – for free. Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) says that such a space is enough for a ‘lifetime of photos.’ With such a space, users can upload more than 500,000 original, full-resolution photos to the photo sharing site.

The latest Tumblr acquisition and changes to the company’s photo sharing site – Flickr reveals that Yahoo wants to focus on mobility and want to attract a younger audience. Youth’s spend a large amount of their time on smartphones, and with the new Flickr Android app and Tumblr, Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) is exactly going to entice such an audience.

Flickr’s new Android app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store right now, and is available in 10 languages worldwide. The new Flickr for Android maintains your photos original quality, which means that every image you take, edit or share on your phone or tablet looks great, and doesn’t degrade in quality.

So, how do you like the new redesigned Flickr? With 1TB of storage, you’re not going to miss anything, ever again!
