Google Might Be Working On New Nexus 7 With 5MP Camera, HD Display [REPORT]

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) annnounced the Nexus 7 last year at the I/O developer conference, and it quickly became the talk of the town. This new tablet from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) became popular like no other Android tablet. Surprisingly, the tablet comes with solid, power packed hardware, and many people still wonder how Google could pack in so many things  at an affordable price point of $199.

Talking about this year’s Google I/O developer conference, which is happening next week in San Francisco, KGI securities analyst Mingchi Kuo reports that Google is working on a next generation of Nexus 7 tablet, which will come with a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 7-inch display, a 5 megapixel camera and will be notably thinner and lighter than the current generation Nexus 7. But that’s not all—the most interesting part of this report is the price, which will still stand at $199. What makes us wonder is how Google can offer such hardware at the same price.

According to Kuo:

We think the new Nexus 7 will come with the following major spec upgrades: Qualcomm APQ 8064 processor; narrow bezel LTPS 7-inch high-resolution panel (1,920×1,200); 5MP AF rear camera lens; and wireless charging. We also think it will be much lighter and thinner than the previous version.

One other notable feature of the Nexus 7 will be its wireless charging, one of the same features offered with Nexus 4. Google is using Qi-based induction charging which is compatible with lots of chargers, and the new Nexus 7 will likely come with the same Qi based charging.

The original model of the Asus manufactured Nexus 7 was shipped with the latest version of Android Jelly Bean. In fact, this was the first device to feature the latest Android OS, and now at the Google I/O 2013 developers event, perhaps Google might have similar plans. The company might announce an updated tablet featuring Android 4.3, for which we’ve been seeing rumors for quite some time.

Kuo believes that Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) will likely ship 5 million units in the second half of the year, and the company will be selling the device through Google Play Store, as well as its retailers.

If this report comes true, then Google will be offering for the second time a device at an unbelievable price. Consumers won’t be able to find hardware like this at a similar price. Like Nexus 4, the Nexus 7 may also go out of stock because of its high demand.

Do you think Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) will be offering a tablet with Full HD display, 5MP camera and other such features at the same price? Any thoughts?
