Earlier this week, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) started adding updates to Google Glass including Google+ and Hangout Alerts. Phandroid reported the update, which was named XE5, will feature Google+ notifications. This means Google Glass wearers can see shares, likes, comments, and mentions. They will also have the ability to comment on Google + content.
The Hangout Alert feature allows glass wearers to be notified of when they received Hangout notifications. On Tuesday, they launched an update for the Google+ Hangouts On Air feature which would incorporate user recommendations.
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) is also enhancing their own video chat service by offering a rewind button to their live broadcasts that allows users to repeat the broadcast so they don’t miss a beat. The company also enhanced their live broadcast page by allowing the video broadcast to start as soon as the user reaches the page. They will also allow users to access the video recordings right after the broadcast. What’s more is that Google has also enhanced Hangout On Air for smartphones and tablets to ensure that mobile users get high-quality video.

The downside to these improvements is that it may slow down the user experience. The “start broadcasting” button may stay a grayish color before it turns red which signifies it’s ready to use. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) explained, “Nothing to worry about, this is just us getting everything in place before you go live.”
The features were tested yesterday during one Google+ Hangout on air for Ender’s Game, an upcoming movie trailer presented by the director, producer, and star.
Just last February, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) enhanced their social network with a bandwidth slider and audio-only mode feature. The former feature would allow users to adjust preferences in real time and enable them to view the video better. The latter feature would enable users to share their ideas and knowledge without having to show their face.
