Xbox fans won’t have to wait much longer for the next big gaming console. Reports indicate that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has plans to launch an Xbox event on May 21st.
Initially, the tech giant planned to introduce the next generation game console in April but that changed.
The new Xbox (which is code named Durango) will reportedly be revealed in a smaller venue and the entire event will maintain a focus on the new gadget. The actual game console is predicted to debut later on this year during the E3 in the early summer.
The Xbox will also be the topic at the Build Conference which is geared for late June. This event will give developers the information they need to develop applications specifically for Xbox.
There are also reports that the new Xbox will feature Windows 8 software. There is also a rumor that the Xbox will require an internet connection that’s always on. Adam Orth, creative studio director for Microsoft Studios, made a comment on why there was “drama” with the always-on rumors. He then told them to #dealwithit.
This forced Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to give an official apology as the company also had to remind their employees not to discuss or communicate with outsiders about any new products.
It’s been a long time since the Xbox 360 has been released and although it has proved to be a revolutionary game console, it’s been in long need of an update. Especially considering the fact game consoles are losing ground to mobile gaming.
Earlier this year, Sony introduced the Playstation 4, a their future upgrade for the Playstation 3. The upcoming console will feature a dual-shock 4 controller that uses a six-axis sensor and touch pad locator that allows users to really interact with the game.
Game consoles and video games have paved the way for interactive mobile games, but is it too late for game consoles?
