Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) COO Sheryl Sandberg’s new book is out, and as with any work by a major executive, there are shiningly positive reviews and scathing negative ones. Her book focuses on women in the workplace, and it has helped create a national dialogue on the topic.
USA Today reports that the book is not only filled with career advice for women, but is also an explanation of why men continue to dominate in the American business world. Sandberg also highlights some areas in which both men and women can make changes in order to even the playing field.
Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB)’s Sandberg herself has welcomed reactions from people. She said if no one said anything about her book, it would be “disappointing.”
The book is called “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead,” and it focuses no only on the business world, but also the tech industry, which is another field dominated by men mostly. In fact, Sandberg even mentions a visit to one firm where she pitched a deal and may have been the first woman to do so because the partner she met with didn’t even know where the women’s restroom was located.
According to CNN, Sandberg says she does believe that women can “have it all,” meaning a career, family, and children. But she says they can’t have all of it at the same time. She also said that the measure of success isn’t according to the number of women who become CEOs of large companies, but by how much room women have in making their own decisions.
