Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) remained as the number one smartphone manufactures in the United States with 37.8 percent market share in January, up by 3.5 percent compared its 34.3 percent market share in October last year, according to the latest study released by comScore.

Samsung ranked as the second largest manufacturer in the country with 21.4 percent. The South Korean electronics manufacturer also gained 1.9 percent from its previous market share during the previous quarter at 19.5 percent.

HTC and Motorola ranked third and fourth with 9.7 and 8.6 percent market share, respectively. The market shares of both smartphone manufacturers declined by more than 1 percent during the quarter. LG gained 0.3 percent market share from 6.7 percent to 7 percent in January.

Meanwhile, Google Inc (NASDAQ;GOOG)’s retained its position as the number one smartphone operating platform in the country with 52.3 percent share in January. Take note that its market share declined by 1.3 percent from its 53.6 percent market share in the previous quarter.

The market share of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s smartphone platform increased by 3.5 percent from 34.3 percent in October to 37.8 percent. Blackberry platform declined by 1.9 percent from 7.8 percent in the previous quarter to 5.9 percent. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s mobile operating system also declined by 1 percent from 3.2 percent to 3.1 percent during the period.
