How To Receive Facebook Notifications On Google Reader

Updated on

By now we already know that Facebook is addictive, and we have to open it several times a day. Some of you may want to get push notifications straight from your mobile app, or others may want to directly visit Facebook’s website to check for new notifications.

While there’s no problem with that, here’s a new way to check notifications which will interest Google Reader users. If you already use Google Reader as a RSS Reader to read news or to follow various blogs, then you can also receive Facebook notifications on Google Reader. Fortunately, the process is too easy to follow. Let’s take a look at it.

Step 1: Login to your Facebook account and then go to facebook.com/notifications. This is the page where you will be able to see all your notifications.

Step 2: Click on the “RSS” link and then copy that complete URL. Alternatively, you can also right-click on RSS and then click on “Copy link address” to copy the link.

Step 3: Sign-in to your Google Reader account and then click on “Subscribe” button. Next, paste your RSS link and then click on Add.

That’s all you need to do. Now you will be able to see all your Facebook notifications in your Google Reader. You can read them via the web interface or by using a mobile app on your smartphone or tablet.

To get more information on any notification, click on it and you’ll be taken straight to Facebook to view the photo, comments, links, videos, etc.

This method of checking your Facebook notifications is a great way to limit yourself from opening the “actual” Facebook website and wasting time on it. Simply check the notification from here and if it interests you, then visit Facebook.
