FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) expects Monday to be the busiest day in their shipping history.
With millions of people expecting to receive their gifts right in time for Christmas, FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) is gearing up for what it expects to be the record-breaking, busiest shipping day of the company’s history.
It has been reported that the shipping company expects a total of about 20 million packages to be shipped today.
“What we’re actually expecting over the next 24 hours is about 20 million pounds of traffic,” said John Dunavant of FedEx VP Memphis World Hub.
With 300,000 team members onboard and a total of 20,000 extra, seasonal crew, FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) is all set to process more than 200 packages per second, marking the day as a record-breaking day of their working history.
“At FedEx, we have been preparing for this busy holiday shipping season for almost a year now,” said FedEx executive vice president of Market Development, T. Michael Glenn, in a press release.
“The spirit and drive of our team members, backed by the efficiency of our networks, will help us deliver what we expect will be a record-breaking 280 million packages through our global networks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, up 13 percent from 2011,” said Glenn.
With a huge collection of boxes, bags, and letters to be shipped today, every team member is putting in effort around the clock to deliver the gifts on time, aiming to achieve their targets set for Monday.
John Dunavant of FedEx VP Memphis World Hub claims : “Peak for us, tomorrow’s going to be 19 million packages, on an average day, it’s about 9 million packages,”
The surge in e-commerce spending is the biggest contributing factor in a 10% year-over-year increase in FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) volume from 2011. This year, according to e-Marketers, digital holiday sales are expected to jump a total of 17% higher than that of last year’s holiday sales.
