PressReader For iOS & Android Brings The News Paper To Your Device

Updated on

In these digital times, it’s a good idea to dump reading newspapers and magazines the traditional way. If you have an Android, iOS, Blackberry, or a Windows powered device, then here is a new way for you to read full-content newspapers and magazines on your device.

Enter PressReader, a mobile app, with which you can read thousands of local, national, and international newspapers and magazines. The advantage of using this app is that you can read newspapers and magazines published in many countries, anytime, and anywhere from your mobile device. This also means that you have less paper clutter on your desk. Let’s take a closer look at PressReader app for iPad.

For new users, PressReader offers 7 trial issues of any Newspaper/Magazine/Journal for free. Start the app and then tap on “Sources” from the top left side to select a country, and then select your favorite newspaper or magazine. You can also sort by “Language”. PressReader will display a date so that you know when the publication is published.

Select the content that you want to download and then hit the “Download” button. For some strange reason, it took me around 10 minutes to download a single newspaper. After the download is finished, you can see the publication in your library. The best part is that now you don’t need an Internet connection to read the publication.

The “Top Stories” button will display top stories of the day. There’s also a search option, so that you can search for any term for which you want more information.

If you don’t want to read the publication, then there’s also an option to narrate. When I tested it, this feature really worked great. Tap on the part you want to listen to, and then you can see some new options like text view, listen, share, copy, print, etc. Tap on “Listen” and then you can listen to the narration.

PressReader currently provides access to over 2,200 full-content newspapers and magazines/journals from 97 countries and in 54 languages. This app gives you the freedom to read content from any country, and the latest newspaper is delivered on a daily basis.

Now let’s talk about the pricing part. This app is free, but you will need to purchase a subscription plan that suits your needs. For casual readers who want to read only a single publication, they can choose the pay-as-you-go plan, which means they only need to pay $0.99 per download. Users can also purchase all of the publications for $29.95 per month.

The app will give you a very good reading experience, as you can adjust the font size, zoom-in and zoom-out, search online, read articles distraction free with text view, and more. Overall it can be said that PressReader is a superb application to get the digital edition/version of your favorite newspapers and magazines.
