Nokia Lumia 920 To Be Available SIM-Free In U.K. On Nov 13

According to UK website The Inquirer, users who want to buy Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK)’s SIM-Free Lumia 920 can order their phone through Clove on November 13 in the United Kingdom.

Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK)’s Lumia was originally available on EE’s 4G plans, which are pricey. Many of their readers have long complained about the service and one reader even said, “Was waiting for 3 months for a Lumia 920 as I am a big Windows fan, but if only available with expensive 4G contract [then] I will be buying an Iphone 5 on a 3G contract next week. Have Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) and Windows shot [themselves] in the foot?”

The new phone will be available from Clove sans SIM card for £520, without a two-year contract. Unfortunately, this smartphone is available exclusively in white. Users who buy the Nokia Lumia SIM-Free will be able to use any SIM card of their choosing for the new phone.

The Nokia Lumia 920 is just one of the newest Windows based smartphones for Nokia. This model features an 8MP PureView camera, 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) Snapdragon processor, 32GB of internal storage, and SkyDrive cloud storage. Unlike previous flavors of the Lumia, this version comes in a variety of fun colors, including black, white, yellow, blue, and red.

The new Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 920 offering should boost it’s sales in the UK. Although there is no word on how it will affect upcoming holiday sales, I’m hoping the Nokia will see at least a slight boost in sales this quarter. I doubt this will have any affect on iPhone and Android sales, but it does offer customers more options. Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) is struggling in a market that’s dominated by the likes of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (LON:BC94), I doubt much could change that, but it would be interesting if they saw a nice increase in sales this holiday season.
