The iPhone 5 isn’t expected to debut until September 12, but that doesn’t stop fans from sharing rumors and photos of what we might expect from Apple’s sixth generation smartphone.

The most recent leaked image comes from Apple.pro, a Chinese tech blog. This photo shows what appears to be a complete front assembly, and features what  looks like an NFC chip on the upper right(see red square). This is something that hasn’t been seen on previous iPhones.

It’s been reported for quite some time that the iPhone 5 will feature an NFC radio, which might work with Apple’s Passbook application. The Passbook will be a replacement to traditional wallets, and make it easier to purchase things without a debit card.

Although this rumor has yet to be confirmed, it’s a real possibility, considering that Google has already utilized NFC technology on some of their Android models. This technology is currently more popular in Europe than in the United States, but Apple could change all of that.

What other changes can we expect the next generation Apple smartphone?  A slightly longer design, 4G LTE, and 1 gigabyte of RAM. This is predicted to hit stores on September 21.  So far nothing has been confirmed from Apple.

I think it’s safe to say that Apple will release their next iPhone sometime next month or maybe even early October. These reports may have some truth to them, but I think the best has yet to be announced. Apple’s iPhone is the most anticipated gadget of the year, and they’ve got a lot riding on their back. Their fans have high expectations of them and it’s easy to see why. If Apple fails to have impressive features on their next generation smartphone (which is highly unlikely), it could prove to have a negative impact in sales. I really doubt Apple has anything to worry about though.
