55% of Consumers Want to Buy Apple iPhone 5: Piper Jaffray

Piper Jaffray released a report today regarding 4G service among U.S. carriers, and the results seem to indicate that Verizon will be the top seller of the new Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone 5. Jaffray analysts conducted a survey and the results are overwhelmingly in Verizon’s favor.

The report shows that 45% of the people surveyed indicated that they did not intend to purchase iPhone 5 when it is released next month. While this may seem disconcerting, the analysts disagree. They say that this instead is a positive figure, which indicates that at least 55% of the consumers are at the very least, considering the purchase of an iPhone 5.

The report states that of the customers who indicated that they would purchase a new iPhone 5, 44% said they would be going to Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) to get the gadget. This is a 15 point lead over major competitor AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), who had 29% of the vote. Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S) and T-Mobile took 3rd and 4th place with 14% and 13% respectively.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhones have dominated the market as the number one selling phone in the smartphone world, almost every year since their inception. This past quarter sales were down, due to the rumored launch of the 6th generation iPhone 5 coming next month, according to reports. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KRX:005930)  has taken the lead from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in sales, due to this fact, but many analysts predict that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will rise to the top spot shortly after the launch of the new iPhone.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KRX:005930) are involved with multiple lawsuits with each other around the globe. These suits include both companies accusing each other of stealing patented information and ideas to manufacture their devices, and the battle has been a bitter struggle between the two rivals to see who will come out on top. Most people seem to believe Apple will emerge the victor, and the company recently was noted as currently being the most valuable company in the world, as reported here on ValueWalk.

Will the iPhone 5 take the lead back from Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (KRX:005930)’s Galaxy series? I tend to agree with the analysts on this one, as Apple is constantly innovating their products to become more and more useful to the consumers. Their iPad tablet line is rumored to be getting a boost from a new 7″ series called the iPad mini, and although Apple has yet to confirm its existence, most people believe that they are indeed going to launch it sometime soon. I guess, we will have to wait and see for sure.
