Twitter Goes Down Shortly After Google Talk Comes Back Online

Could there be some major problems on the Internet in the last few days? So far this week, we have seen a majorly visited thread on Facebook crash for more than 12 hours. This lead was from former Arkansas governor, Mike Huckabee’s, post inviting people to support Chick-Fil-A in a national appreciation day.

As if that one event wasn’t enough, Gchat, Googles instant messaging system also bit the dust for several hours this morning. With Gchat down, many people’s instant messaging capability, including mine, was severely limited. Gchat finally did revive this morning, allowing us to continue with our workday.

Now we just received reports that Twitter, a social network giant, has also crashed. Twitter’s home page lets users know they are sorry for the inconvenience, and assures them that they are working to correct the problem.

What is causing these major communication networks to falter, and all at one time? Could it be a major surge in traffic to the servers, or possibly a virus? While we don’t know for sure what the issue is, we will be updating our readers, as soon as more information is available. In the meantime, Twitter is still down, with no idea how long it will be before it is online again.
