Apple Gains Mobile Devices Share, Google Continues to Lead

ComScore, a research company revealed that  Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) continues to gain market share during the three-month average ending in May with 15 % . During the previous three-months average ending in February, comScore, Inc. (NASDAQ:SCOR) data showed that Apple’s market share among mobile subscribers was 13.5% .

The research also revealed that Google’s Android dominates the Smartphone market with 50.9 % market share compared with Apple’s 31.9 % share. RIM has 11.4%, Microsoft 4% and Symbian 1.1 % market shares respectively during the three-month average ending in May.

Data showed that Google gained 0.8 percent while Apple gained 1.7 percent during the previous period. Meanwhile RIM lost 2.0 while Symbian also lost 0.4 % market shares respectively.

Samsung remained the leading manufacturer of mobile devices with 25.7 % market share followed by LG 19.1%, Apple 15%, Motorola 12% and HTC 6.1%.

The research firm also revealed that mobile subscriber usage of social networking sites and blogs increased by 0.6 % to 36.7 percent compared with 36.1%, downloads for mobile application also went up by 1.6% from 49.5% to 51.1% during the previous period.

Mobile subscribers listening to music also went up by 2.2% from 24.8 percent to 27% while the number individuals playing games increase by 1.3% from 32.2% to 33.5%.  The percentage of mobile users sending text messages remain at 74.8%.
