Foxconn Employee: iPhone 5 To Be Released In October

Published on

As we predicted earlier, a June date did not seem likely for the release of the iPhone 5, and today our assumption has been confirmed. According to the latest reports from South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper, the head of Foxconn’s human resources stated that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has already given orders for its next (6th) generation iPhone. The  smartphone’a planned release date is in October 2012.

According to the translation from Kotaku, the head of human resources said:

“We just got the order. It [the release] will be around October.”

There were various reports that the Taiyuan based Foxconn factory was in process of hiring workers for the new phone production. The reporter of The Maeil Business Newspaper after hearing the reports, asked the head of human resources if there was any truth to the rumors. He confirmed that the rumors were true, and stated, ‘Yes, it’s true we are hiring a large number of workers.’

Previously there were reports retrieved from a recruiter for Foxconn, who claimed that iPhone 5 will launch in June, but according to the earlier analysis of one of our authors; the June date did not seem likely for the release of Apple’s next gen iPhone.

The reasoning was as follows: The current model, iPhone 4S have been on the market for 8 months, and the device is still selling in the millions. Demand for the current model is still very high, so releasing the new version so soon seemed unlikely to us.
